Michelle Wareham Releases Kindle Single

Under Gaslight Michelle Wareham

Michelle Wareham first came to TLC for an assessment of her historical novella, Under Gaslight, in May 2014. The manuscript was read by TLC editor Anna South, who was impressed with the level of writing and dedication to the writing process. Michelle had already self-published one title, Leatherback, in 2012. Since she completed her edits on the book, we have been liaising with Michelle on next steps, and are thrilled that Under Gaslight is now available as part of Amazon’s curated Kindle Singles list, and has been featured on the Kindle Singles front page here. We are delighted for Michelle, and look forward to continuing to work with her as she establishes herself as a talented author on the independent and digital scene.

About the book:

It is 1918. The Great War is coming to an end, and Mary is holding hope her husband, Eli, a soldier, is still alive, although he has not written for three months. Worse still, Eli’s army pay has vanished, and Mary’s family is barely living on the breadline.

At home, in a poverty stricken workers’ town in the industrial North of England, there is Mary’s mother Beatrix, who will never speak his name, and her daughter Grace, who barely knows it. As all three women share their story, Eli, husband, son-in-law, father, returns from the war severely injured.

Under Gaslight tells of the fierce love between Mary and Eli, and the suffering and injustice of a family barely surviving on the edges of existence. It is a story of dignity, love and strength, set in the shadow of a war that will change the course of history.

Under Gaslight is available to purchase here.
