TLC will be returning to the idyllic Casa Ana in September 2023 for a sunny autumn writing retreat. This beautiful Spanish home is set within the mesmerising Alpujarras mountain range in Andalucia, Spain. TLC Literary Adventures offers an environment where inspiration and improvisation meet.
You will have access to world-class teaching, get a chance to work, read, listen, learn and relax in a stunning setting which will open the mind and senses. The retreat is open to writers of fiction (novels or short stories), memoir and creative non-fiction, and will include morning workshops on elements of writing as well as a session on the publishing industry, plenty of free writing time, readings with your fellow writers, and optional trips to a nearby village with local hand-made artisanal products. All breakfasts, lunches, three chef-cooked three course evening meals, and your accommodation are included in the ticket price. Minibus transfers to the venue are also included. Rooms are available on a shared or single traveller basis, with prices starting at £900. Groups are limited to a maximum of 12 to ensure optimum learning time and progression through ongoing writing projects. A daily itinerary can be found here.

Tutor Biography
Julia Bell is a writer and academic, and was one of TLC’s first Readers. She teaches at Birkbeck where she is the director of the MA in Creative Writing. She has published across many forms in fiction, non-fiction and poetry, and her essays and short stories have appeared in the TLS, The White Review, The Paris Review and have been broadcast on the BBC. Her essay-length book Radical Attention was published by Peninsula Press in 2021 and her most recent book Hymnal is a memoir in verse, published by Parthian in 2023.
