We are thrilled to share that Beth Miller, who in 2009 won a mentoring award through a scheme run by TLC, has had her first book When We Were Sisters published by Ebury Press, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The book is available to buy in ebook and hardback format here. A paperback version of the book will be available in February 2015 and can be pre-ordered now. Early reviews have called it ‘intelligent and sharply observed’ (Daily Mail) and ‘funny and touching… a promising first novel’ (Good Housekeeping). We wish Beth the very best of luck with this book and look forward to seeing more from her.
About the Book
Once they were the best of friends, inseparable as only teenage girls can be. That is until Miffy’s Jewish father ran off with Laura’s Catholic mother, and both of their families imploded – as well as Laura’s intense relationship with Miffy’s brother. Twenty years on, they’re all about to meet again…
Of her experience with TLC, Beth says:
“In 2009 I won a mentoring award from TLC. My mentor was Tessa West. She read the whole novel in several large chunks and gave me very useful and thoughtful feedback. At the end of the process (2011) the book was read by another reader at TLC, and she was really positive. She suggested more changes, and TLC offered to try and find me an agent (though in the end, I found one on my own, in 2012). I was very grateful for the support and encouragement I received at TLC, and really enjoyed the Industry Day I attended there.”
