Anna has worked in publishing in for twenty-five years and is highly experienced in both fiction and non-fiction. In addition to the many writers she’s worked with through TLC her clients have included most of the London publishers, a leading London literary agency and New Writing North. She’s worked with novelists, biographers, creative writing teachers, journalists, academics and screenwriters and mentored many writers, including winners of the Bridport and Lucy Cavendish prizes. Her career began at Penguin where, over the course of seven years, she worked on all the adult imprints and in her first year as an editor published two top ten bestselling books. Over the course of a long freelance career she’s guided many writers through the complexities of the publishing process, and loves nothing more than adding a client’s new book to her bookshelf.
Anna has been one of the advisory judges shortlisting for the Bridport First Novel Prize since 2015 – and was also a shortlist reader for the inaugural Bridport Memoir Prize in 2023 – and in 2020 was one of the shortlist judges for the Northern Writers Award. As the author of fourteen Afterwords for the Macmillan Classics series she has some experience of what it’s like to be on the other side of the editor/ writer relationship. She was educated at Oxford, where she studied English and French.
