Katy Whitehead is an experienced editor as well as an award-winning fiction and non-fiction writer. As an editor, she was a Commissioning Editor at 4th Estate, where she worked on a range of literary fiction and non-fiction, acquiring books by Lena Dunham, creator of HBO’s Girls, and National Book Award longlistee T. Geronimo Johnson, among others. In 2023, she helped launch the short fiction site, Cosmorama, as Editor in Chief. As a writer, she won the 2017 Fitzcarraldo Editions Essay Prize and received a 2021 Arts Council Developing Your Creative Practice grant. Her writing has been shortlisted for the Bridport Short Story Prize and longlisted for the Moniack Mhor Emerging Writers Award, among others. Katy’s work has appeared in Granta, Graywolf Labs, and Roxane Gay’s The Audacity. She is an associate member of the Society of Authors.
