TLC Free Read Writer Premieres Play about PTSD

We are thrilled to hear back from Louise Stokes, a TLC Arts Council England Free Read bursary recipient via Writing West Midlands. Louise’s TLC-assessed play Please Stop the Dark has gone into production. At TLC we are best known for our fiction and non-fiction manuscript assessment, but we also offer assessments for scripts and screenplays from our expert script readers, so are particularly delighted to share this excellent news.

“Just thought I’d update you with news of my script ‘Please Stop The Dark’ which received a Free Read by Alan Harris earlier this year.

Developing the script from the feedback given enabled me to get some funding to cast, workshop, rehearse and showcase it, with further funding in the pipeline to tour it next year.

We go into rehearsals next week, and have our showcase here in Birmingham on November 1st. Tickets are free, but registration is advised.

Mostly though, I just wanted to share with you and thank you for the opportunity of the TLC Free Read. I’m so excited to be taking this play forward and your service was key in helping me do that.”

About the play

Please Stop The Dark is a challenging and provocative exploration of the process of PTSD and its devastating effect on the individual.

Including storytelling, spoken word, poetry, songs and music.

At times surreal and abstract, the play will entertain, make you think and challenge preconceptions about PTSD.

Tickets

Please Stop the Dark will be shown at Centrala in Birmingham on November 1st 2017. Register for a free ticket here
