TLC is proud to support this year’s SI Leeds Literary Prize, for new writing by Black and Asian women. In line with the announcement of the 2014 shortlist, two events have been planned with readings by award-winning writers and inspiring speakers Dreda Say Mitchell and Bernardine Evaristo. Both events are free to attend, but booking is essential.
Monday 22nd September, Rich Mix 7.30pm SI Leeds Literary Prize Readings
Award winning writer, broadcaster and journalist Dreda Say Mitchell introduces the SI Leeds Literary Prize shortlisted writers. A national, biennial prize with patrons including Bonnie Greer, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, Bernardine Evaristo and Bidisha, this year sees the announcement of the second award in October at the Ilkley Literature Festival. Join the nominees for an engaging evening of readings and discussion.
Wednesday 8 October, Southbank Centre 7.00pm SI Leeds Literary Prize Celebration
A Little Dust on the Eyes by Minoli Salgado won the inaugural SI Leeds Literary Prize. Acclaimed author and literary critic Bernardine Evaristo introduces this debut novel in an evening of readings in anticipation of the announcement of the 2014 winner at the Ilkley Literature Festival in October. This pre-award announcement celebration features discussion and performances, including readings from the 2014 SI Leeds Literary Prize shortlist.
